Ingredients for Cooking Lean Brushwood

Cooking lean brushwood:
Step 1: prepare the dough.
To begin with, pour soda water into a deep bowl. Sift there through a sieve with a fine mesh about 400 grams of wheat flour and add granulated sugar. Then, with these clean hands, knead a non-sticky medium-density dough, if it sticks to the palms, add a little more flour.
Step 2: form brushwood.
After the dough has acquired the desired structure, put it on the kitchen table and use a rolling pin to roll it into a thick layer 1-2 mmtrying to give it the shape of a rectangle.
Next, using a sharp kitchen knife, cut the semi-finished flour with rhombuses or small rectangles. Preferably their length hesitated from 5 to 7 centimeters, but width from 1 to 2 centimeters.
In the middle of each piece we make a small incision 1 cm long. Then we take one strip, we pass its upper or lower part into the hole one or two times and put the resulting product on a countertop, sprinkled with a thin layer of flour. In the same way, we form the rest of the brushwood.
Step 3: fry lean brushwood.
Then we put on a strong fire a deep non-stick pan with a thick bottom or a cauldron, pour in about 400 milliliters of vegetable oil and give it the opportunity to heat up. After some time, we dip the first batch of brushwood into hot fat, the amount depends on the dishes in which you will cook it, if it’s small, 4-5 pieces are enough, and if large, you can put 7-8.
This dough is fried very quickly, so we are not far from the stove! In about 15 seconds the brushwood is browned on one side, with the help of a kitchen spatula we shift it to the other side and fry in the same way, until golden brown.
After that, we send an almost finished dessert on a paper kitchen towel so that it absorbs excess fat. Then we transfer brushwood to a large flat dish, cool, sprinkle it with icing sugar and serve to the table.
Step 4: serve lean brushwood.
Lenten brushwood is a unique, very inexpensive and fast-preparing meal. Before serving, tidbits are laid out on a large flat dish and decorated with icing sugar to taste.
Then they can be served together with fresh tea, coffee, cocoa, and very often this dish is supplemented with jam, jam, honey or sugar syrup. Enjoy a simple and very tasty meal!
