Cooking Sangrita:

Step 1: prepare the tomatoes.

First of all, we heat a full kettle of boiling water. Meanwhile, we wash the red tomatoes under cold running water. Now, using a knife, make a cross-shaped incision on each tomato and put the vegetables in a deep bowl.

After that, pour the tomatoes with boiling water and keep them in hot water 1 - 2 minutes. Then, using the slotted spoon, we transfer the tomatoes into a bowl of cold water and allow them to cool.

After some time, remove the peel from the cooled tomato. We cut off from each fruit the place on which the peduncle was attached.

In turn, cut the tomatoes into 2 halves and, helping ourselves with a teaspoon, remove seeds from them that can be used to prepare other tasty dishes.

Then transfer the tomato pulp into a clean blender bowl. Grind it at high speed until the consistency of mashed potatoes and transfer it to a carafe or a deep glass bowl.

Step 2: prepare the onions.

Now peel the onion, rinse it under running water and dry it with paper towels.
Then we cut the vegetable into 3 - 4 parts, put them in a clean blender bowl and grind in the same way as tomatoes.
We shift the onion puree into a bowl of tomato puree and with the help of a wooden kitchen spoon we mix them until a homogeneous consistency.

Step 3: prepare citruses.

Then, in turn, cut each lime and orange into 3 to 4 parts and squeeze the citrus juice into a bowl with the vegetable mixture. We carry out this simple process with our hands, and also for this purpose you can use such kitchen appliances as a manual or electric juicer.

Step 4: bring the drink to full readiness.

Add salt, sugar and black pepper to the carafe with the vegetable mixture and citrus juice. Re-mix all the components of the drink to a homogeneous consistency, cover the carafe with a lid and put in the refrigerator for a couple of hours - the sangrit should cool! After that they take out the carafe, put ice cubes in it, mix the drink again and serve.

Step 5: Serve Sangrit.

Sangrita is served chilled. It has a pleasant sweetish-spicy-salty aftertaste with a gentle sourness. In the main, it is served with tequila, after pouring these two drinks into separate hundred-gram glasses. But very often sangrita is mixed with tequila in one tall glass or served as a separate drink on hot summer days. Enjoy it!
Enjoy your meal!
